Description
Center lug Mounting
Center lug mounting cylinders use rectangular tabs positioned close to the midpoint of the cylinder head and cap. Mounting bolts are used to secure each tab to the mounting surface. The midpoint positioning of the tabs along the head and cap allow the cylinder to absorb force along the cylinder centerline. The benefit of this is uniform distribution of thrust or tension forces along the cylinder centerline. This makes centerline lug mounts suitable for straight line force applications. However, usage under shock or high-pressure requires dowel pins to securely fix the cylinder to the mounting surface. Poorly secured lugs may cause misalignment from uneven bending or torquing forces on the mounting surface.
