What is a (CI) Butterfly Valve?
A CI butterfly valve is a control valve which can be used to isolate or regulate. The valve operates with a disc fixed through a stem in the body of the valve.
Operation of a CI butterfly (BF) valve:
Butterfly valves, like any other control valves uses an obstruction component. In this type of valve, a disc is used which is operate with a lever, gear, or actuator on top. This disc is attached to the upper control with a stem which goes from the center of the disc. Butterfly valves some time uses ring gaskets of softer material to provide leak proof operation.
Benefits of using a CI Butterfly (BF) Valves:
Butterfly valves are compact as compared other types of control valves or mechanical valves. Its compact size makes it very easy to install as well. One of the key benefit of using this type of valve is its affect on the pressure. As the disc when opened sits perpendicular to the media and it does not reduces the pressure of flow of the media to an extent.
What is lug type butterfly valve?
Lug type butterfly valves are generally made of cast iron or ductile iron. They contain lugs threaded inside all over its boy for easier installation with flanges. Additionally when sandwiched between flanges, these type of valve can match the flange screw holes and fit perfectly over a pipeline.
Lug type butterfly valve can be used for carious industries such as water, chemical, HVAC, fire, food processing, ship building, drainage petroleum etc.
