The trunnion mounting is welded to the cylinder body can be used for cylinder mounting, this makes sure that the cylinder force is applied centrically to the fixation so that no lateral forces are generated. This is a cylinder mounting type with one degree of freedom that permits pivot mounting. Truinnion mounting is one of the best and strongest mounting systems available as it is a single gimbal mount and therefore self aligning in one axis. When used with a second gimbal mount in the orthogonal it becomes a universal joint and therefore effectively self aligning in three axes. Trunnion attachments can be mounted at the cap-end, rod-end, or at an intermediate position of the cylinder. It include pins for rotation and are secured on both sides of a cylinder. Trunnion brackets are rigidly secured to a mounting surface and used as a rotation point for trunnion pins. Rotation about a trunnion attachment is similar to clevis attachments; however, they can only be used with shear stresses and not bending stresses.
